David Kirk MBE — President

David Kirk is a former New Zealand rugby union player best known for having been the captain of the All Blacks when they won the inaugural Rugby World Cup in 1987. A medical doctor, Rhodes Scholar and former parliamentary advisory, David was awarded an MBE in the 1998 New Year Honours for services to rugby. David has held many senior roles in a variety of organisations including CEO of Fairfax Media and Chairman of Trade Me. He continues to sit on several boards and is a trustee of several charities. The author of two books was inducted into the IRB Hall of Fame in 2011.

Kerry Stotter — Independent

Mr. Kerry Stotter was a Partner at KPMG. He retired from the firm in 1999 after 32 years, subsequently working in directorships, governance advisory and in governance of NGOs. Mr. Stotter is currently a director and chairman of two Board committees at The Hobsonville Land Company Ltd. He previously held directorships and was Chairman, at Waste Disposal Services, Stracon Holdings Ltd and Sea+City Projects Ltd a subsidiary of Auckland Regional Holdings, where he was also a director. Sam Cane — Player Representative

Sam Cane is the Chiefs co-captain. Sam was part of the All Blacks world cup winning team in 2015 and captained the side in one of the pool matches. He made his debut in the black jersey in 2012. A double Super Rugby title winner with the Chiefs, Sam also represented the New Zealand U20's, winning the Junior World Championship. The Reporoa born player is a former New Zealand Age Group Player.

DJ Forbes — Player Representative

DJ Forbes is an All Black sevens double Commonwealth Games gold medalist and has been part of the World Series winning side on numerous occasions. The former national sevens captain and father of two has been playing the short form of the game since 2006 and is a previous World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year winner. Forbes also played in the National Provincial Championship for Counties Manukau and has been on the New Zealand Players Association Board since 2014.

Sarah Goss — Player Representative

Sarah Goss is a highly successful women’s player and has a Seven’s Rugby World Cup title to her name. The forward has captained the Manawatu side to victory in the 2013 National Women’s Sevens and also plays for Manawatu in the National Women’s Competition. From a rural background, Goss has competed in the prestigious Golden Shears competition and was a World Rugby Women’s Sevens Player of the Year nominee in 2015.

Jerome Kaino — Player Representative

Double Rugby World Cup winner, All Black Jerome Kaino captains the Blues Super Rugby team and plays for Auckland in the Provincial competition. He also spent two seasons playing for Toyota Verblitz in Japan between the 2011 and 2015 Rugby World Cups. Kaino player proudly grew up in South Auckland and was awarded the IRB International Under-21 player of the year in 2004. The American Samoan born loose forward is married with three children.

Huriana Manuel — Player Representative

Huriana Manuel is one of the stars of women’s international rugby. A dual New Zealand representative, having played for both the Black Ferns and the New Zealand Women’s Sevens team, Manuel has multiple titles to her name including Rugby World Cups, Sevens Series and captained New Zealand to victory in the Sevens World Cup in Russia. She has also won numerous Women’s National Provincial titles with Auckland. The centre is the daughter of former Black Fern Liza Mihinui.

Kieran Read — Player Representative

Kieran Read is the current All Black captain. Born in South Auckland, the double world cup winner has played over 100 matches for the Crusaders. The No 8 was namd the IRB Player of the Year in 2013 and plays his Provincial Rugby for Canterbury.

Brad Shields — Player Representative

Brad Shields was born in Masterton and grew up in Lower Hutt. He was deputy head boy at Taita College where he played for the First XV and went onto captain the Wellington U20’s. The loose forward represented New Zealand in the New Zealand U17’s side in 2008 and was part of the 2011 IRB Junior World Championship winning side in Italy in 2011. Brad made his provincial debut in 2010 for Wellington and was awarded Wellington’s Player of the Year in 2014. He pulled on his first Super Rugby jersey in 2012 for the Hurricanes and was part of the side to win the Investec Super Rugby competition in 2016. He went on to played for the Barbarians later that year drawing with South Africa.

Ben Smith — Player Representative

Ben Smith is the current All Black vice captain and made his debut for them in 2009. A World Cup 2015 winner and a Super Rugby title holder and centurion, Ben was awarded the Super Rugby Player of the Year title in 2013. The Otago Provincial Union player has won a gold medal at the 2010 Dehli Commonwealth Games with the New Zealand sevens side.

Conrad Smith — Player Representative

Taranaki born centre Conrad Smith is a double Rugby World Cup winning All Black. Smith has played for the All Blacks for over a decade. The Bachelor of Law graduate and former age grade cricket player has captained the Hurricanes and played for in the National Provincial Championship for Wellington. From a sporting family, both Conrad’s uncle and great-uncle were All Blacks. The proud father is currently playing oversea in France for Pau.

Luke Whitelock — Player Representative

Palmerston North born Luke Whitelock is from the infamous Whitelock rugby family. He started his representative rugby playing for the New Zealand Under 20’s, winning the IRB Junior World Championship twice in 2010 and 2011 as captain. The loose forward made his debut for Canterbury in 2011 and played for the Crusaders the following year. He played his first All Blacks match on the Northern hemisphere tour at the end of 2013. He is now representing the Highlanders.

Sam Whitelock — Player Representative

Sam Whitelock is a double World Cup winning All Black who made his debut for the side in 2010. The Crusader and Canterbury lock grew up in Fielding and represented New Zealand secondary schools, U19's and U20's winning the IRB Junior World Championship in 2008. Sam has a Bachelor of Science degree from Lincoln University and is a talented basketball player.
