David Kirk MBE — President

David Kirk is a former New Zealand rugby union player best known for having been the captain of the All Blacks when they won the inaugural Rugby World Cup in 1987. A medical doctor, Rhodes Scholar and former parliamentary advisory, David was awarded an MBE in the 1998 New Year Honours for services to rugby. David has held many senior roles in a variety of organisations including CEO of Fairfax Media and Chairman of Trade Me. He continues to sit on several boards and is a trustee of several charities. The author of two books was inducted into the IRB Hall of Fame in 2011.

Doug Wilson — Independent

Doug is a Practicing Chartered Accountant with over 24 years’ experience working predominately for Deloitte Hamilton, with the exception of three years of working in the UK from 1996-1998. His work experience combines many years of mid market accounting and advisory work, and management consulting roles including strategic advisory work. In addition, Doug represented New Zealand Universities in 1993, and was the manager for the Chiefs Franchise in 2001, 2002 seasons.

Tammi Wilson Uluinayau — Independent

Tammi Wilson Uluinayau is a former Black Fern who played in the 1998 and 2002 Women’s Rugby World Cup. Tammi is a quadruple sporting international, having represented New Zealand in rugby, sevens, league and touch and is currently a Kaiarataki Maori Equity Academic and Physiotherapy Lecturer at AUT in Auckland. She is a former Independent National Board Member of The Royal New Zealand Plunket Society and has a postgraduate Diploma in Health Science, a Bachelor of Health Science in Physiotherapy, a Bachelor of Education and a Diploma of Teaching and owns her own physiotherapy practice.

Sam Cane — Player Representative

Sam Cane is the Chiefs co-captain. Sam was part of the All Blacks world cup winning team in 2015 and captained the side in one of the pool matches. He made his debut in the black jersey in 2012. A double Super Rugby title winner with the Chiefs, Sam also represented the New Zealand U20's, winning the Junior World Championship. The Reporoa born player is a former New Zealand Age Group Player.

Dane Coles — Player Representative

Dane Coles is a Hurricanes centurion having made his Super Rugby debut in 2009. The highly agile ball-running hooker has also captained the Hurricanes and guided them to their maiden Super Rugby victory in 2016. In that same year the father of two was awarded the Tom French Memorial Cup as Maori rugby player of the year. Coles is part of the Wellington Lions and represented New Zealand in the Maori All Blacks and at the U21’s level. He began his career in the All Black jersey in 2012 and was part of the Rugby World Cup winning team of 2015.

Scott Curry — Player Representative

Scott Curry is a double Olympian who is co-captain of the Olympic Silver Medal winning All Blacks Sevens team. He made his sevens debut in 2019 in Dubai and has played over 50 tournaments and 250 matches, cementing himself as a key member of the side. Scott has a Commonwealth Gold and Silver medal to his name and was part of the World Sevens Series winning side in 2018. A former restaurant owner, the Rotorua born player has represented Mitre 10 Cup for Bay of Plenty.

Lesley Elder — Player Representative

Les Elder (nee Ketu) started out playing rugby for Waikato in 2004. After a stint in netball Elder got back into rugby while living in Australia. She returned to New Zealand in 2013 and cracked the Black Ferns in 2015 after impressing on the field for Waikato. The natural leader came back from injury to make the winning Rugby World Cup side in 2017. After being in the Black Ferns leadership group, the openside flanker was named captain of the Black Ferns in 2019. Elder currently works as a Rugby Development officer for Bay of Plenty Rugby.

Sarah Hirini (nee Goss) — Player Representative

Sarah Hirini (nee Goss) has developed into one of the leading sevens players in the world. The current Black Ferns Sevens captain has several accolades to her name including Sevens World Champion 2013 and 2018, Olympic silver medallist in 2016 and four-time World Series winner. She was named New Zealand’s Rugby’s women of the year player of the year in 2017 after her efforts in both sevens and 15s and most recently World Rugby Sevens, UL Mark of Excellence Award winner in 2018. Sarah has just completed her degree Bachelor of Arts in Maori studies and Sports Science at Massey University. Of Maori descent, Hirini affiliates to the Ngāti Kahungunu iwi.

Aaron Smith — Player Representative

Aaron Smith is a Highlanders centurion who was part of the Investec Super Rugby title winning South Island side in 2015. The highest capped All Black halfback made his debut in the side in 2012 against Ireland and winning a World Cup with the team in 2015. The former Fielding High School student has represented Manawatu since 2008 playing for the New Zealand U20’s side which won the Junior World Championship in Wales in the same year. Aaron (Ngati Kahungunu) has also represented the Maori All Blacks, debuting in 2010 and won the Tom French Memorial Trophy for Maori Player of the Year in 2014.

Ruby Tui — Player Representative

Ruby Tui has been part of the Black Ferns Sevens team since she was discovered in the Go4Gold campaign making her debut in 2012. The Rio Olympic silver medallist completed a Diploma in Sport in 2013 at Aoraki Polytechnic and has also studied a Bachelor of Arts doing a double majoring in media and communications and English. Born in Wellington, Tui grew up in Greymouth in the South Island before moving to Christchurch and is now based in Tauranga. She also does SKY TV Commentary when not playing.

Patrick Tuipulotu — Player Representative

All Black lock and Blues Co-captain Patrick Tuipulotu made his All Blacks debut against England in 2014. The Ponsonby Rugby Club player is a former St Peter’s College in Auckland student and played in the IRB Junior World cup for New Zealand U20’s side in 2013. In that same year he made his Auckland ITM Cup debut and later went on to captain the side in 2017.

Sam Whitelock — Player Representative

Sam Whitelock is a double World Cup winning centurion All Black who made his debut for the side in 2010. The Crusaders captain and centurion has led his side to two Super Rugby titles. The Canterbury lock grew up in Fielding and represented New Zealand secondary schools, U19's and was part of the U20's winning the IRB Junior World Championship team in 2008. Sam has a Bachelor of Science degree from Lincoln University and is a talented basketball player.

Selica Winiata — Player Representative

Fullback Selica Winiata of Ngāti Raukawa has been part of the Black Ferns since 2008 and also played for the Black Ferns Sevens from 2008 until 2016. In 2013, she was a member of the winning Rugby World Cup Sevens team. The policewoman won New Zealand Rugby’s women’s player of the year in 2016 and was also part of the Rugby World Cup 2017 winning side. In 2019, Selica was named as one of the vice-captains of the Black Ferns. Proudly from Manawatu, Selica made her debut for the Manawatu Cyclones as a 14-year-old and was a driving force for getting female rugby up and running at Palmerston North's Freyberg High School. The speedster has broken multiple records for her province. Selica is the primary carer for two boys and even manages to referee some games for young players in her spare time.
