Joe Wheeler

I played professional rugby for 14 seasons in New Zealand and Japan. The game took me around the world and exposed me to different cultures, coaching styles, and high‑performance environments. I retired in December 2020 after a neck injury, but that experience has strengthened my appreciation for what athletes go through on and off the field.

I had to grind for everything I achieved through my Rugby career, and that belief that there’s no substitute for hard work still shapes how I operate today.

I joined Halo Sport in 2022, and I’ve leaned on those experiences and beliefs to help players understand the realities of the professional game. I try to keep things honest and relatable, supporting athletes through the challenges, decisions, and pressures that come with a sporting career. My goal is simple: help people grow, stay grounded, and get the best out of themselves as players and as humans.
