Scott Ireland

Chair

Scott Ireland is a proud Taranaki man with a lifelong connection to rugby and his province. A former player, Scott represented Taranaki at age-group and provincial level, giving him first-hand understanding of the game and the environments players are involved in.

Following his playing days, Scott remained deeply involved in the sport as a coach, working across a number of representative teams. He now continues to serve the game in governance roles, including being a member of the Taranaki Rugby Unions board.

Scott is also actively involved in governance roles across a range of charitable and private organisations and remains closely connected to the grassroots game through New Plymouth Old Boys Rugby Club, where he has played, coached, and now sponsors the club.

Away from rugby, Scott has built a successful career in accounting and finance and is an owner and director of Schurr Ireland Chartered Accountants. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and holds a Certificate of Public Practice, providing strong financial and commercial expertise

Scott lives in central New Plymouth with his wife and three daughters. A committed family man, he understands the importance of balancing sport, work, and whānau, and brings that perspective into all areas of his involvement in the game.
