Tevita Funaki is a respected leader and advocate for Pacific communities, bringing a strong people-first approach to his work across health, education, and community development. Since 2010, Tevita has served as Chief Executive of The Fono Trust, where he has led initiatives focused on improving wellbeing and outcomes for Pacific families. 

Before joining The Fono Trust, Tevita held senior leadership roles including Pacific Health Manager at ProCare Health Ltd and National Pasifika Liaison Advisor at Massey University. Across these roles, he has built deep experience working alongside individuals, families, and communities, with a strong emphasis on connection, trust, and long-term impact. 

Tevita continues to contribute widely through governance and advisory roles, including as Chair of ProCare’s Health (PHO) Limited Board and the Ministry of Social Development Pacific Reference Group, and as Chair of the Oceania Career Academy. He also serves as a Director of ProCare Network Limited and is a member of the Police Commissioner’s National Pacific Forum and the Waitematā District Commander Pacific Advisory Group. 

Tevita brings a deep understanding of culture, identity, and the importance of holistic wellbeing. He is a strong advocate for environments where people feel supported, understood, and empowered to succeed, both on and off the field. His insight is particularly valuable in supporting Pacific players and their whānau through the challenges of professional sport. 

In recognition of his service to Pacific health and community leadership, Tevita was appointed a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2024. Respected, grounded, and community-led, Tevita provides a trusted and culturally informed voice at the table.
