Matthew Dennis

PDM - Northland Rugby

Matthew Dennis brings more than 20 years’ experience as an educator and leader to his role as Personal Development Manager for Northland Rugby. Grounded in genuine care for people, he believes strong relationships sit at the heart of meaningful growth. Matt works closely with players to co-design development plans that reflect their unique goals and life stages, connecting them with education, career pathways, and specialist support so they can define success on their own terms.

Before joining Northland Rugby, Matt held senior leadership roles across Northland, Auckland, and London. Alongside his PDM responsibilities, he leads the community-driven Rugby for Life Employment, Education and Training (EE&T) Programme, which leverages the values and networks of rugby to create sustainable career and employment opportunities across the region. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and Sociology, a Diploma of Teaching, has undertaken postgraduate study in Educational Management and Administration, and is an Accredited Mediator. A proud Northlander based in Whangārei, Matt is a passionate supporter of the Taniwha and Kauri. When he’s not coaching his three daughters in hockey or swimming, he’s making the most of the Northland lifestyle, surfing, fishing, and exploring the coast.
