James Parsons

Head of Representation

James Parsons is a former professional rugby player who represented North Harbour, Blues, and the All Blacks across a 15-year elite career from 2006 to 2021. 

Following his playing career, James transitioned into leadership off the field and now leads the Representation Team at the Rugby Players Association, overseeing the full spectrum of matters shaping the professional rugby ecosystem. His remit spans contracting, competitions, commercial frameworks, high-performance environments, partnership agreement compliance, player investment access, individual player advocacy, and the management of misconduct cases. 

Grounded in elite performance and supported by a Bachelor of Commerce, postgraduate leadership study and formal business training, James brings a rare combination of credibility, commercial acumen, and people-first leadership. He remains deeply committed to advancing player welfare, strengthening high-performance cultures, and helping shape a built to last future for rugby in New Zealand.
